      This long, thin filamentary structure
is located near the center of our Galaxy. These filaments run in the direction
perpendicular to the plane of the Milky Way Galaxy and extend over a distance
of greater than 50 light years. These filaments are influenced by the
magnetic field. The semi-circular feature in the upper right hand part
of the image is called the "Sickle" and is thought to be interacting with
the magnetic filaments. Much of the nature of the filaments continues
to remain a mystery to astronomers.
