This radio galaxy shows two jets that
are substantially bent as they emerge from the nucleus of an elliptical
galaxy. Astronomers believe that the material streaming from the nucleus
of this galaxy is decelerated as it collides with dense matter. The moving
galaxy leaves behind a trail, which acts as a fossil record of the motion
of the galaxy in its local environment. The trail (or tail) of the radio
source can be seen at lower frequencies to extend to nearly three million
light years in
size.
